The St. Benedict Medal has two sides, one is the image of Saint Benedict, and the other is the carved letters and cross. The main contents of this ring are letters and crosses. The straight bar says "C.S.S.M.L" which is the abbreviation of the Latin "Crux Sacra Sit Mihi Lux". The "N.D.S.M.D" on the horizontal bar means "Non-Draco Sit Mihi Dux" which means "The dragon will never be my master". The four letters "C.S.P.B" in the four corners of the cross are "Crux Sancti Patris Benedicti" (Fr. Saint Benedict's cross). And the text in the circle on the edge of the holy card is the abbreviation of the Latin prayer "Vade retro Satana".
